Odyssey 2001: A Spaced Odyssey

Imagine the perfect event: a venue with state-of-the-art Dolby surround sound, mind-blowing lighting and four spectacular sectors with the planet's best DJs playing for 16,000 like-minded clubbers. Add a 3,000-seat cinema and stunning bars, a tube station right at the entrance, coach and car parking for thousands and extreme rides.

Well imagine no more. Ministry of Sound brings you 'Odyssey 2001' at the world's most spectacular landmark, the Millennium Dome. Themed around the cult film '2001 - A Space Odyssey', this promises to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Jupiter Sector in the Dome's Skyscape will house a gigantic reconstruction of Ministry of Sound's world famous 'Box' sound system. Paul Oakenfold, the planet's biggest DJ, will be headlining alongside System F's Ferry Corsten, Rulin' resident Jazzy M and other Ministry of Sound regulars.

Just a rocket blast away is the mighty S'move Mars Sector where the Dreem Teem will be headlining with a set that will be beamed set live to Planet Earth for broadcast on Radio 1. The Artful Dodger will blast you into orbit and Norris 'Da Boss' Windross and Ramsey & Fenn will be donning their spacesuits for more supreme UK garage grooves.

Flip into hyperspace and it's over to the World Dance Saturn Sector. A space station crammed to the roof with DJs and MCs. Your guide for the flight is Grooverider, joined at the helm by Fabio, DJ Rap, Hype, Andy C and a host of d&b's finest talent.

Between orbits head for the Trance Bar for stylish refreshment in comfortable surroundings, or Skyscape's 3,000 seat cinema to download out of this world images.
Finally, space travellers will enjoy boarding the Venus Sector, hosted by Ministry Magazine's House Party, where you can look back at earth at the spectacular views of the River Thames.

49 Days to go…

January 1, 2001

Odyssey 2001 was a complete waste of time, money and effort.

And no wonder no bugger ever went to the Dome, all those millions spent and maybe 10 road signs in the whole of London. FFS!

Anyway hello to Beth and Co from New York, hope Oakenfold lived up to your expectations. Nice “meeting you”

And hello to all those who travelled far and wide to stand outside in the rain for over an hour.
